ABOUT US
The Winery was founded in 1962 thanks to the tenacity and the will of just 40 farmers today it has 759 members, a vineyard area of about 1.660 hectares and an annual production of 200.000 quintals of grapes mainly white grapes, the most important sicilian and international varieties all in full respect of the nature, combining tradition and modern oenological practices a large part of the production is growned following the rules of organic agriculture, without the use of synthetic chemical additives and manteining low level of sulfur dioxide. Therefore among the largest Sicilian wine cooperatives, managed for over a decade by actual President Vincenzo Ampola.

THE GRILLO
The "Grillo" is not only the flagship of the cooperative, but also the primary and favorite variety for the climatic conditions that characterize the petrosilene countryside.
Grown in espalier or with the traditional sapling, it is a vigorous vineyard with large and elongated bunches, it has green colored berries that take on a golden color when fully ripe. Its wine is straw yellow and bright, with an aroma of fresh fruit and citrus with typically Mediterranean floral notes, with a fresh and persistent taste with a marked flavor and structure.
What makes it so for its characteristics is the position of the vineyards and above all the salinity of the Mediterranean sea Breeze from which our sparkling wine takes its name.
The remaining 15% of the production is made up of international and indigenous black berried grapes, which produce red wines with structured, savory and spicy flavors.

OUR TERRITORIES
The lands extend along the coastal strip between Petrosino and Mazara del Vallo and are located at an altitude between 20 and 80 meters above sea level. The climate is hot and humid with little rainfall: the area is characterized by the almost constant presence of the sirocco wind, a hot Saharan current that gives special characteristics to the products of this generous land.
The vineyards are trained in the Guyot espalier system and boast over a hundred years of traditions.
The proximity of the sea greatly influences the territorial microclimate, favoring rosé wines with high basic acidity, saline and very fragrant.
